Artists For Local Agriculture is a nonprofit organization built around the idea that nothing unites and drives people to action quite like music and art. We are working together to promote local food producers who use sustainable, innovative and healthy techniques in creative systems and styles.
We have a series of 9 different benefit events planned. Each features the artwork of a local, visual artist and live performances from 4-6 musical acts, centered around the goal of increasing awareness and support for a farm or CSA in that particular community.
We have two community-style gardens where people can volunteer to work for a share of produce yielded.
We are also filming a documentary, featuring live performances and interviews with artists, food experts, farmers and activists.
With $2500 we could: file our 501c3 status, acquire booths at farmer’s markets and cover some costs of running the community gardens.
Most of all, it would help us get a jump start on what WILL become a nationwide movement.
